Thanks to the slow demand for cars these days I am starting a week off for March Break. Couldn’t be happier. Looking forward to the time with the kids and maybe a bit of rest.

That’s how long I have to wait for a new episode of one of my favorite TV shows Fringe on Fox. Oh well. Guess I’ll have to circle April 7th on the calendar!

Proud Moments in Geek Fatherhood Part IV

Written by davem on January 25, 2009 – 7:34 pm -

Gotta say my proudest geek father moment yet happened the a couple of days ago.  I decided to fire up the PS3 and do some gaming but, both the kids were still up.  I decided what the heck.  I had just downloaded the demo of Lego Batman and fired it up.  Eric was immediately interested.  So I grabbed the second controller and gave it to him.  Being the good father that I am I even let him play as Batman.  After a quick run down of the buttons we were kicking some Gotham bad guy butt.  The level ended with an epic battle with Catwoman.  Overall, Eric managed to impress me with his skills given it was his first time.  Of course in our house it is monkey see, monkey do and Ally and I ended up finishing off our gaming night.

Recommended Viewing: Zeitgeist

Written by davem on January 25, 2009 – 7:19 pm -

Just finished watching Zeitgeist.  Basically it is documentary film released online for free and on DVD, presenting Christianity, the attacks of 9/11, and the US Federal Reserve Bank as instruments in plots for social control and world domination.

The film is broken into three parts.  The first part is “The Greatest Story Ever Told” and argues that all religions are tools and are shared and derived from common sources (focuses particularly on Christianity).  Part two is “All the World’s a Stage” and seeks to show evidence that 9/11 was either orchestrated or allowed to happen by the U.S. government.  Part three is “Don’t Mind the Men Behind the Curtain” which focuses on the Central Banks and that the three main wars during the 20th century were waged purely for economic gain.

Overall I really enjoyed this.  It was a well presented documentary with some very interesting ideas.  Whether you believe the theories presented or not it is worth the watch.  Don’t dismiss it too quickly as a vessel for conspiracy theorists.

Eric’s 1st Stitches

Written by davem on January 14, 2009 – 6:26 pm -

On the weekend we took Eric skating. About 2 seconds after he stepped on the ice he wiped out hard and smacked his chin off of the ice splitting it wide open. After 4 hours in the hospital and a rather traumatic experience he got three stitches and was sent home. Check out the pics below…

Check out those stitches...
